- Hand mending
- From my innocent fascination with hand embroidery, I've stumbled into the wild world of mending as my full-blown profession. I specialize in both noticeable and almost invisible mending for clients and my own family.
I've taught myself a variety of mending techniques, but my absolute favorite method is the art of tiny embroidery. Since 2019, I've been sharing my mending skills through teaching.
My name is Ekaterina Haak, and I'm a designer, embroidery artist, and upcycler based in Mühlheim an der Ruhr, Germany. I have a passion for sustainable textile practices and reducing waste mountains. I guess this mindset has its roots in my childhood in the former USSR, where I grew up. In a reality shaped by planned economies, I learned to appreciate resources and recognize their value.
Through creative stitching and darning techniques, I give clothing a longer lifespan, contributing to sustainability. I offer textile repair services and tailor-made workshops for individuals and businesses.
